Get the best deal on car hire in Sacramento with GoSee

Sacramento is only the sixth largest city in California with roughly half a million people, but holds the honour of being the state capital. It has been named as ‘America’s Most Diverse City’, and is known for its hipster culture, abundant trees, and historic Old Sacramento district in the heart of town. You can easily make your way around and discover it all for yourself when you book a cheap car rental at Sacramento Airport.

Discover the diverse state capital of CA on car hire

Sacramento is well placed in the north of California so you can take your vehicle for day trips to nearby cities and locations such as Redding, San Francisco, and Santa Rosa.

There are roughly a dozen leading car rental companies at Sacramento International Airport. While on the one hand, that means plenty of choice and enough competition to ensure a good deal, it also means you can easily waste several hours scouring websites trying to find the best deal.

Cut your search time down to just seconds with GoSee, which will use your Sacramento travel dates to compare deals from multiple brands on offer, all in one place. You’ll immediately see the best deal on car rental available, and you can use the filter options to narrow down your search if you’re after something in particular.

Book online as soon as you’ve made your decision to secure your rental without paying any additional fees or charges through GoSee.

Introducing Sacramento International Airport

Sacramento International Airport is a busy terminal that helps more than 10 million passengers travel all over the United States and the world each year. The airport is constantly working on upgrades, and is currently undergoing a massive solar installment which is expected to provide 35 percent of the terminal’s electricity requirements. If you’re flying to or from Sacramento, it’s also often used as a gateway to nearby locations such as Los Angeles, San Diego, and Las Vegas.

As with any major international airport, you can find a wide range of facilities inside the terminal. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars. You’ll also find useful amenities such as ATMs, a business centre, and free WiFi throughout the terminal.

All car rental companies can be found inside the car rental terminal a short distance from the main terminals. There is a free shuttle bus that stops outside terminal A and B every 10 minutes or so to offer rides to the rental area. Here you’ll find rental pick-up points for leading rental brands such as Hertz, Thrifty, Avis, and more.

Sacramento car hire driving guide

You can expect a fair amount of traffic when you’re driving from A to B in this large Californian city. Sacramento is quite spread out, and the majority of locals choose to drive personal cars rather than biking or taking public transport, which means congestion during rush hour and peak travel times. That said, it’s still not as bad as major hubs such as Los Angeles or New York.

Driving from Sacramento Airport to the CBD

The Sacramento International Airport is just over 10 miles from the city centre, and it should take roughly 15-20 minutes to make the trip under normal traffic conditions. The route is simple - when you leave the airport, take a left onto the I-5 and follow it all the way into town. You’ll turn off to the left onto I Street if you’re headed into the downtown area.

Tips for driving a rental car in Sacramento

Driving in Sacramento is fairly similar to most other large cities. Take a look at a map before you arrive to familiarise yourself with the basic layout, especially noting the major bridges over the rivers. Pick up a GPS unit to keep from getting lost, and avoid driving at rush hour so you don’t get caught in traffic. It doesn’t usually snow in Sacramento, but the city does see regular rainfall in winter, so be prepared to drive carefully under wet conditions.

Parking at Sacramento Airport and in the city

There are multiple options for parking at Sacramento Airport. Day lot parking costs USD$2 for 30 minutes, with a maximum of USD$29 per day. There is also a parking garage, and economy parking with free shuttles if you’re looking for a cheaper long-term stay for your hired car.

Parking in Sacramento is notoriously expensive and hard to come by. Street stalls are metred Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, but be sure to read the signage as the allotted times are different from street to street. There are numerous surface lots and garages as well, such as one behind the main library and the City Hall garage, but the easiest (and cheapest) option is usually to find accommodation that includes a free or affordable stall on site.

She was awesome, great lady over the phone, She explained everything in detail.
Anthony Unabor
Having had an awful service with QEEB, despite having booked a car months ago, we needed to look for a new provider. It is only 3 weeks until our holiday so I was worried that we would face an expensive car hire. GoSee had reasonably priced cars and the experience was hugely different to that of QEEB.
GoSee website was easy to use, straight forward and we were able to save a quote for the car we were interested in. A member of the GoSee team called that evening to make sure we had all of the information we needed and she sent us through the quote again... Thank you for making a stressful situation much more tolerable!!
