Deciding on the type of car you need

Renting a car isn't a one-size-fits-all situation. The type of car you need depends on lots of thing, including:

  • how many passengers you have
  • how much luggage you have
  • the kinds of roads you'll be driving on
  • how much you want to spend on fuel

Below we have listed the different types of cars that you can book with GoSee, including some of their benefits and why you might want to hire this type of vehicle.

Compact and economy

Do you just need something simple to get you from A to B? A compact or economy car might be just what you need.

These smaller cars are generally the cheapest type of car to rent. Because of their size, the space for extra passengers or luggage may be limited, however some still have 5 seats and space for a couple of suitcases.

Keep them in mind if you just need something simple and economic to get you around for a few days.

4 Wheel Drives and SUVs

When you need a bit of extra room, or you're heading to the ski field, a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) or 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) might be the answer.

Generally bigger and more spacious than a car, SUVs are popular with families and those who need room for their skis, camping equipment or a few extra suitcases. So if this is part of your plan, make sure to check your vehicle comes equipped with 4WD and any necessary extras, such as snow chains.

Vans and people movers

Perfect for when there's a lot of you and you want to all stick together. Vans and people movers can seat anywhere from 5 to 15 people, and may still have enough room for everyone's luggage!

Make sure you watch out in car parks and drive-throughs, as these vehicles can be taller than the maximum height allowed. They can also take a bit more effort to manoeuvre on narrow roads, so that's another thing to consider.

Luxury and prestige models

Looking for something that will turn heads? Luxury and prestige vehicles are the perfect choice if you want to experience the best and have a bit of extra money to spend. They also might suit you if:

  • you're driving long distances
  • you want a convertible
  • you want to treat yourself
  • you want a late model vehicle

Make sure to think about storage and the number of passengers you have, as that will determine if you're going to end up in a convertible sports car or a luxury SUV.
