Discover more of Guam with a Tamuning car rental

On the western shore of Guam, looking out over Tumon Bay, is Tamuning - a village making up a third of the wider Tamuning-Tumon-Harmon municipality which is the centre of economics, tourism and industry in the Micronesian US territory. It is close to Guam’s primary airport and centrally located, therefore a great spot from which to begin exploring the island. As well as being directly adjacent to Guam Airport, Tamuning is very central to the rest of Guam. Barrigada and Hagåtña are close by, and beyond the more settled areas lie the natural gems and friendly villages that make up beautiful Guam. Pack your road trip essentials and set out on a self-drive adventure to remember!

A guide to Tamuning

Tamuning and its neighbouring Tumon and Harmon, often counted as one municipality or village, are a hub for Guam and home to many tourism agencies, government branches and public facilities. The beautiful white sand and sparkling, protected waters of Tumon Bay are one of the major drawcards of the area, which also boasts a zoo, the Guam Premier Outlets, Matapang Beach Park, scenic Two Lovers’ Point and more. Marine Corps Drive runs through the town, and it is well-connected by various roads and highways to the rest of Guam.

The nearest airport to Tamuning is Guam International Airport, also known as Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport. It is just two kilometres from Tamuning and is the main point of entry for visitors to Guam.

Guide to driving in Tamuning

Getting from Tamuning to the airport

The drive from Tamuning to Guam International Airport should take around 5 minutes or less. Head west on S Marine Corps Drive, and turn left onto Highway 10A. This will take you directly to the terminal.

Guam driving tips

  • Seatbelts are mandatory for all drivers and passengers, so buckle up every time you get in the vehicle. Children under 12 must use an appropriate child restraint or booster seat.
  • The island has low speed limits compared to many other countries, so be mindful of your speed at all times. Vehicles are limited to 35 miles per hour in rural areas and 15 miles per hour in residential areas.
  • It is illegal in Guam to use mobile phones while you are driving.
  • There are no footpaths outside of villages in Guam, so look out for pedestrians and be prepared to share the road.
  • Guam’s roads are generally well-maintained, but you may come across unsealed sections and potholes. Drive carefully, and be prepared for the event of a breakdown.

Parking in Tamuning

While the most touristy areas of Tamuning (around the waterfront in Tumon) can present difficulty finding parking, overall you will find plentiful parking in Tamuning and around the rest of the island. Many beaches and parks have parking provided, and a lot of hotels will include a parking space. Parking on the roadside is allowed unless specified otherwise

Note that in Guam, the legal parking position is within 18 inches of the curb, and unless angle parking is clearly designated, you must park parallel to the curb.

What our customers say

IT WAS VERY EASY TO MAKE BOOKING
I WILL RECOMENDE GOSEE TO MY FRIENDS
Mileta Markovic
She was awesome, great lady over the phone, She explained everything in detail.
Anthony Unabor
Having had an awful service with QEEB, despite having booked a car months ago, we needed to look for a new provider. It is only 3 weeks until our holiday so I was worried that we would face an expensive car hire. GoSee had reasonably priced cars and the experience was hugely different to that of QEEB.
GoSee website was easy to use, straight forward and we were able to save a quote for the car we were interested in. A member of the GoSee team called that evening to make sure we had all of the information we needed and she sent us through the quote again... Thank you for making a stressful situation much more tolerable!!
