Is Alamo rent-a-car part of Hertz?

Can you rent a car with a debit card?

It is possible to rent an Alamo car rental with a debit card, subject to restrictions specified by the individual locations. At airport locations, debit card deposits are only accepted at the time of rental if accompanied by a ticketed return travel itinerary. (The name and address shown on the renter’s driver’s license must match their current home address.) The renter is responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.

Canadian locations will only accept US and International Debit Cards at the time of rental with a round trip travel ticket, e-ticket, or travel itinerary that shows the renters name and discloses the return date and flight itinerary; Canadian Debit Cards are NOT accepted.

How old to rent a car?

The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years, but a 'Youthful Surcharge' may be applied to your rental if you are between the ages of 21 and 24, and renters 21 through 24 years of age may be restricted to specific car classes. In Michigan and New York, the minimum age to rent is 18. U.S. military personnel and government employees ages 18 or older will not incur a Youthful Surcharge when renting for authorised government travel, but must show the rental location his or her official orders. There is no maximum age restriction in the United States or Canada.

What are the car rental requirements?

You must meet the renting location's minimum age requirements, present an acceptable format of a valid driver's license, and submit an acceptable payment type at the discretion of the individual locations. Please note that an accelerated check in may happen when the renter's driver's license and contact details are provided ahead of pick-up.

Do you allow pets?

Pets are allowed in Alamo car rentals. Customers need to keep pets crated and return their Alamo rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier.

What are the additional driver policies?

The renter’s spouse or domestic partner who meets the same age and driver’s license requirements as the renter are authorised drivers at no additional charge. Any additional authorised drivers must appear at the time of rental and meet age and driver’s license requirements and pay an additional charge of $15 per day ($5 per day in New York state), unless other contractual conditions apply. An additional driver may only be added to the contract at a rental location and may be added or removed in the middle of the contract.

Do you have one-way rentals?

One-way rentals are allowed by Alamo Rent a Car for specific routes. Check the availability and associated fees by typing your departure and arrival locations into the search function.

What driver's license do I need?

You must present a valid, unexpired government-issued driver's license, which includes a photograph. If travelling to the United States and Canada from another country and your license is not in English, you may also be required to provide an International Driver’s Permit or a suitable translation, as well as another form of identification.
