The car was perfect for the weekend, but there was no counter at the airport for the Dollar car company I had rented....bit stressful. I needed to call to find out that I needed to go to the Hertz counter. Otherwise I would recommend the GoSee car rental experience.

Car hire Greece: Frequently asked questions

See all of our FAQs

Is it expensive to rent a car in Greece?

It depends on the type of vehicle you hire. You can find very reasonable prices on economy and compact cars, while larger models can start to get into the hundreds of dollars a day.

Can you rent a car in Greece without an international driver's license?

If you're a non-EU citizen, you will need an International Driver's Permit to hire a car in Greece. The application process is simple, however make sure to give yourself enough time to acquire your permit before you head on your trip.

Is driving in Greece difficult?

Like any country, this depends where you plan to drive. There are big highways connecting some areas, but the more rural you get, the narrower the streets can become. If you round a corner at the same time as a bus full of tourists, you might find yourself in a little bit of a squeeze. Driving in Athens can also be a little daunting, depending on your skill level, so plan ahead or avoid it if you can.
