Gander sits on the island of Newfoundland in Eastern Canada. Pick up a Gander Airport Rental to discover this special section of Newfoundland and Labrador province.
Upon arrival in the city, you will get a sense of its history as you drive through town and notice streets named after famous aviators. Visitors can discover more of this history at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum.
This eastern Canadian city also has plenty to offer by way of nature and coastal attractions. Hop in your Gander car hire to explore nearby parks and take in a round of golf. Then, make your way to other hotspots on the island, including St. John’s (the provincial capital), Stephenville and Corner Brook. Driving tips for your Gander rental car
Newfoundland is a remote place, and you may find yourself driving on long stretches of road with no fuel stations, so it is recommended to fill up your tank whenever possible - and ensure you are carrying extra supplies and a cell phone in case of breakdowns.
Newfoundland’s weather is very changeable. Be prepared for anything, particularly when driving in winter. You may also come across wildlife on the road, which can be a major hazard. Dawn and dusk carry the most risk of wandering animals, so try to avoid driving at these times if you can.
Parking options at the Gander International Airport and Gander city centre
The airport has both short-term and long-term parking options available. The parking lot is an open-air lot that is patrolled 24/7 to ensure your vehicle is safe. The parking area is located directly adjacent to the terminal.
Parking within the city is typically on-street only, with some spaces requiring payment at a meter. The city of Gander has a strict ban on vehicles parking on-street between midnight and 8AM from November to April.
